this is the secret missing episode of city after myth, you must fail at nanowrimo 300 times in order to view this episode

you may have seen this idea before. I narrowed it down a bit and it's nowhere even near a good reference to start writing whole story which is why i repost it now

UPDATE 1: added more about chars i forgot






premise: 12 people have been selected by a mysterious power (henceforce known as the 'god orb' to play a game. Each of them receives powers and now must play games set to them by a mysterious messenger to earn wishes, and possibly their freedom.

SYSTEM: each player gains access to a mysterious website run by a gamemaster (GM)
The site has a messaging system ID'ing each player as their power, presumably for completely anonymous contact.
The site makes public announcement text for the rules of the game and the missions.
The system is virtually impossible to 'hack' since it's not based on any real server, but the god orb. magic, bitches.



GAMES: example: capture a baby (each player receives a baby tracker on phone) and deliver it to a dropoff point (also noted on phone)
if you do this successfully you receive points
after a few games of X amount the top player gets a wish of limited power (power increases with game length)
there is a possibility of randomly assigned teams for certain missions




RULES/GUIDELINES
u cant quit
a dead player leaves the game
the first place (leading in points) gets the wish every time it's given
the last place is subject to some unspecified punishment
no wish may have anything directly to do with another player
the wish may or may not be subject to negotiation with the GM if they feel like it


POWERS/CHARACTERS
Based on 12 elements.
mostly only based on creation from a source (player) and manipulation of that created element
This is to avoid bullshit like "I draw all the water out of your body, killing you instantly"
the characters are basically their characters at this point because i have no names and only vaguely filled out character at all
character age 18-35 because fuck you


GOD:ORB
a god orb obviously. it's supernatural and is the one

GM:
is a human

FIRE
"the angry one"
girl who can fight intially
her desire, really doesn't know, but is content to just fight and do morally iffy things while someone else gets the wish


WATER
"the vigilante"
a man who uses his power to prey on the criminal element.
PAST: was a player in a former game
his desire is to have a world in which humanity can no longer wrong each other


WIND
ATM EITHER NOTHING, OR THE EXACT SAME PERSON AS METAL


EARTH
"the thrill killer"
a very tall guy who becomes enamored with his powers and eventually ends up killin an NPC by accident. he can't stop.
no real wish since he is more content to just flaunt his power
i plan for him to die early


LIGHTNING
"the childhood scar'
a girl who is introduced early through protagonist, she is one of many reasons he is shit at life now
has problems with her own power for some reason
plan to have a terrible relationship with protagonist but somehow still just enough to keep it going


ICE
"the good one"
only idea i have is a girl (to make 6 girls and 6 boys) and make her the kindest of all
her desire is probably something good like 'world peace'
where i want her to be plotwise is to eventually break down in the face of man's true nature


LIGHT
"the other guy"
some guy who joints the protagonist group for some reason
only wish i could think of him was 'i wish to see for myself if religion's gods are real', not an option cause it would result in his death

DARK
"the dissident"
a girl who you could say is the typical lib college student
her desire would be to somehow remove corruption from the world

LIFE
"the life-ender"
a female teacher who got extremely fed up with humanity in general
her desire is to destroy all humanity and let nature take its course from there (except herself because slefish mmmm)
plan for her to become the first alpha threat ingame somehow


METAL
"the sheltered"
a male who is extremely opinionated on certain things, but absolutely does not realize that everything that he has beliefs against are based on them affecting his relatively high position in some way
you could say he's an MRA but i dont want to be this blatant at all
his first wish if he got it would be for DARK girl to love him
this obviously won't solve his woes at all, not even if it worked

TIME
"the protagonist"
male, full of wibble but not too wibbly (no shinji pls -ted)
no latent desire but grows one over time, as is proper novel protocol
probably should win in the end, but cannot decide what the final wish would be really


SPACE
"The Thief".
a male character
whose desire is something extremely selfish and gross like 'make me a ghost that can rape the whole world' or something
character is mostly unremarkable, on purpose.
plan for him to become the last alpha threat ingame

space/time power is interchangable because of this guy


"MIND"
The possibility for a 13th player seems cool, they'd have to be some sort of supernatural psychic to hack their way into the game in the first place, so even if the godorb gave them no powers they'd be strong on their own in some way.

NPC's: none atm, concerns were raised about 12


CHARACTER GROUPINGS:
time, lightning: some awkward relationship in past starting from young age
fire, light: join the above 2 in a group



OPEN QUESTIONS:

filling out characters obv, everything needs fillout
where they might live/hang out


how do fights not attract outsider interference
does any player care if this happens
would the story be better if outside law enforcement/military got involved
should the GM/godorb have amnesia powers to stop this
should a wish stop this instead

character strategies:
what to do if someone decides to just middle their way through the safest missions and not be last, while hiding from all
what if someone goes to war against NPC humanity and ignores the game
is it a good idea to have a wish change the rules of the game

With what is here so far I would recommend the GM being an anonymous (to the audience as well) figure that the players try to figure out along with the audience. Slowly getting possible looks at his/her agenda. I'll come up with more detailed reply later.

Not sure if you want to be 100% serious or 100 comedic or whats but the moment i saw TIME and PROTAGONIST as a set it stirred delicious horrible ideas in my brain :V Not necessarily uncliche things but time manipulation is super fun when memory inst perfect across time space wibbling. Even Non shinji stoic characters can have their characters tested in pretty emo( but enjoyable) ways with lost time or suddenly gained time.

Not sure if the elements are meant to have a hard relationship to the wish those character want, but again, BECAUSE TIME, you can do comedic/evil bullshit like pointing out how their wishes end up doing the opposite of what they want and ruining everything. I WANT PEACE IN THE WORLD OH NO EVERYONE IS PERMANENTLY FROZEN BECAUSE THE SUN WENT OUT. sort of nonsense

any gay V: ? i dont expect you to write any gay because well, you dont have any experience in it, but interpersonal relationships are super fun in large casts like this, its just hard to do WELL.

for the outside interference thing youre basically asking 2 things: Can normal people perceive the actual powers, and can they interact with said powers. Like say, is the metal the metal guy can control just like real metal ? or is it supernaturally strong? the idea that normals CANT interact in any significant way with the super powered is prolly the most overdone, so it would be interesting to let normals be completely capable of say, shooting metal guy to death just because he can physically block the metal fast enough and junk because real world physics.

major idea break: possibly save the true "wish" for the end of the game since it's entirely possible smaller wishes can still break the entire premise here in half

ideas for alternative prizes:

some sort of only game-relevant buff?
ability to add some new game elements?
immunity for a game cycle?

point system to reset between wishes/prizes?


EDIT: Seriously considering the idea that the GM takes an active judging role of the game/wishes and it's essnetially him vs 12 munchkin troll players, making this story a greater allegory for a DnD game gone hilariously wrong

I rather like the idea of wishes being rare things so that they can feed off player's-lives without slaughtering the entire cast. Like I mentioned before, you could have something where one person dies before the first wish (Earth?) so when the wish is granted it feeds off THAT player's "slot" or whatever and no one knows. Later a few players have made an alliance to help them all survive to the end, and when the second wish is granted, one of them has the lowest score of all the players and BLAM, the chapter ends with them exploding and God Orb being like "WISH GRANTED. BEGIN THIRD CYCLE." Maybe if more than one player is dead prior to a wish, it increases that wish exponentially?

Also, I'm not a super big fan of "Impossibly competent mystery puppeteer" but audiences eat that shit up so I really feel like having the GM be someone who leaves fake clues as to who they are (maybe gives random people access to Godorb server so players track down and kill those people instead?) would be marketable.

Not sure about wind being dodo since having a walking tumblr stereotype might seem preachy.
