I'm fully aware the themes appeal to that crowd and that does count as a draw, if you aren't interested there's not much I can do. Except be a really good character writer who hopefully makes you care whether people live or die, and that's not something that you can put as a back-of-book blurb anyway. It's also a bit unfair since concepts for stuff either look always feasible or always stupid, depending on how one sees things.

If you have a few suggestions to salvage the concept then go ahead.

for the record, I still haven't shown anyone what the bits of it that are actually written look like, so I'm the most aware of how much it actually sucks right now lol

well if u have a really cool writing style or some sick symbolism or metaphors then it could be cool i guess but the concept itself just sounds really insipid and boring 2 me. sorry

i guess a good question is what are u trying to convey with this story? whats your artistic vision here?

no real vision, i reheated this concept because i was bored. Doesn't mean i'm not gonna give it a shot to see how far it can get even as a sound reference document.

As for 'conveying', the obvious answer would be 'how far do people go in pursuit of something', but one other idea i had would be to make it a little more of a dumb meta concept and let the characters fight/break the rules themselves and act more like this is a big silly tabletop RPG game, so that one is more like 'how do people ruin things that aren't supposed to be used like that'

again, not really married to any concept at this point.

What subgenre are you going for? I know this is action, but is it going to have a focus on Romance, Mystery, Suspense, Philosophy? You have a lot of options that all fit with "Exploring Human Nature," which I think is your main theme.

I mean is there really a genre focus in most fantasy/scifi fiction anyway? A lot of successes i've seen can adequately handle all four of what you said plus more.

not gonna try to write non-humorous sex scenes (so this is effectively out of the premise) but other than that it's all fair game
