Too much math no one will like it
The base 10 system was most common even in ancient times though. I mean sure, you could teach people the finger bone segment way but if it comes down to inventing math from out of nowhere the 10 fingers got used the most.
Without finger counting, apparently people go back to twos, or binary. as is often seen in languages (one-first, two-second WHAAA then most others end in -th, Spanish also has this I think)
