Megami Tensei

So in the newest Megami Tensei game they have a bunch of the demons designed by some Kamen Rider guy instead of the usual designer Kazuma Kaneko (they still use Kaneko's old designs for most of the demons.)

This results in a very different art style for some of the monsters, and I was really impressed with how the Archangel Michael turned out, but you guys can check out a few of them!



Raphael here is looking ok I guess. Gabriel and Uriel look very similar, being skinny robot skeletons with a beautiful face mixed into their design somehow.

Michael, on the other hand...



Is looking super awesome! He seems to be two hands grabbing a Buddha head with a robot dragon coiling around the entire thing.

This also made me think of Chiropto's interpretation of Angels.

While God does not appear directly in the game (the most powerful Law creature is Merkahba, created when the four Archangels fuse into one being,) there is a DLC where "Ancient Day" (probably supposed to be Ancient of Days) appears.



The thing I like about this is I can imagine how horrified and confused mankind would be if this thing suddenly descended from the sky, which gives it a very powerful "Book of Revelations" vibe.

Also Lucifer has a new design but it's a bit too KAIJINKAIJINKAIJIN for my tastes. You can find it (and Merkaba) on youtube by searching for "SMT4 final boss."

I got SMT IV.

I dont know what to say about it yet, i'm not far at all and anything talking about later stuff will spoil me stupid.

I guess I'm glad that Lucifer is the final boss again, yet annoyed that they still can't put God as a final boss without offending all the parent groups (as if this game isn't blasphemous enough with all the indirect fighting against God)

Also, no ovbious neutral choice, so I think I will have to go with the cooler demons' sides, which is the angels this time around.

I don't think Japan cares about that kind of thing, more likely they just didn't want to put god in.

I think God is the major antagonist or something, you don't actually have a fight against him.

And JRPG-type games are still having god-likes as final bosses with all the Christian religious trappings and such, but only SMT makes it that YHWH is the big boss here.

So yeah, SMT 4 is wonderful.

I'm going neutral since Law wants me to commit genocide then kill myself, and Chaos is the usual "DEMONS RAPE EVERYONE" shtick.
